There are more masks in the battle against COVID-19 thanks to the efforts of local volunteers.
Cindy Hall and four teenage volunteers have been meeting a few times a week at the Connection Center in Chatsworth to make the cloth masks using donated material. They are intended for all ages.
“So far, we’ve made about 20,” Hall said.
As long as Hall has material, she and the volunteers plan to continue the project. Hall also volunteers with the Chatsworth food pantry.
“Last month we did a curbside and so we decided we needed masks,” Hall explains. “That’s kind of how it got the ball rolling.”
The retired Prairie Central special education teacher has sewing experience as she has made blankets over the years. The volunteers have a nice place to work while safely maintaining social distancing.
Those helping Hall include Ayva Alvarenga, Elise Dotterer, Emma Trichel and Kylie Bazzell.
