With plenty of red and green barrels in a warehouse, Jeremy Leman of Sealtite Insulation and Slabjacking felt he needed to do something with them in time for Christmas.
Those barrels are now stacked along Route 24 in the middle of Fairbury spelling out Jesus. The barrels are tack welded together with bracing to keep them from blowing over in the wind. Lights have also been attached for an impressive display at night. It was perfect timing as the manufacturer just changed the barrel colors this year.
“Jesus is the reason for the season,” said Leman. “We celebrate His birth at Christmas and I want to remind the world of this. It’s not about getting, it’s about giving and Jesus gave the ultimate (His life) so that we could have life eternal.”
Sealtite typically enters something in the Fairbury Christmas Parade but since it was cancelled this year, this display fit in nicely with the Chamber’s business decorating contest.
“It was fun to create it and is great seeing the town enjoy it as well,” Leman added.
