Nine Prairie Central High School students were recognized by the Fairbury Rotary Club Tuesday for being named Rotary Students of the Month during the school year and the Rotary scholarship winner was acknowledged.
Brody Norris was nominated by Ms. Carls in the English department. He was referred to as a diligent worker and kind person who does what is right.
Mila Zimmerman was nominated by fine arts teachers Mrs. McCullough and Mr. Vincent. She is a leader of the band’s flute section and has served as a student conductor. She is also an active member of the choir.
Brooklyn McBride was nominated by math teacher Mrs. Zeedyk. She works hard to balance school and extracurriculars plus helps others with homework.
Magy Leon was nominated by science teacher Ms. Morris. Leon is a student who works hard and includes everyone in the conversation.
Cora Morris was nominated by social studies teacher Ms. Custer. She brings different opinions and discussion to the table, works hard and enjoys learning.
Noah Berwanger was nominated by agriculture and industrial technology instructor Mr. Dunahee. He excelled in several IT classes, gives his best effort and is polite.
Kiley Steidinger was nominated by Ms. Appel in the computers and business department. She volunteers to go to the elementary schools when they need assistance with activities. She is in a career development club known as T4, for those wanting to go into teaching.
Suzzie Gomez was nominated by Ms. Lantz of the Family and Consumer Sciences department. She works hard and is not afraid to ask for help when needed. Gomez strives to be the best student she can be with a positive attitude.
Layne Schaffer was nominated by Mr. Wolf of the physical education and health department. Schaffer has a positive, energetic attitude and goes above and beyond to make everyone around her better.
Levi Goad was the recipient of this year’s Fairbury Rotary Club scholarship. He plans to attend Joliet Junior College majoring in Kinesiology and play basketball there.
