Scrimmage set for Friday night

A week before the regular season begins, the Prairie Central and Ridgeview-Lexington football teams are ready to scrimmage on Friday night.

The scrimmage starts at 6 p.m. at Prairie Central High School in Fairbury and will move along rather quickly.

“Each team will run eight offensive plays,” explains PC head football coach Mike Goodwin.

The freshman start the night off, followed by freshman/sophomore then two varsities before the varsity teams cap off the evening.

“Since we are playing Tolono (for week one), Ridgeview-Lexington is going to play Tolono’s defense for us and when they have the ball, we are going to be Gibson City so they can get a little prep for next week,” notes Goodwin.

While there is no admission for Friday’s scrimmage at Fairbury, captains from both teams will be at the gates of Lewis Field if anyone would like to make a donation to the Shriner’s Hospital. The Illinois Football Coaches Association is a big supporter of the organization.

Fairbury News will broadcast the scrimmage live Friday night from Fairbury on Facebook, part of the Casson Media High School Sports Network. Our Hawk broadcast team of Jeff Curl and Mike Wolf will call the action from the press box.
