Rotary hears shop local message from group

The Shop Local PC group presents at Rotary this week/courtesy of Michael Blackwell.

An entertaining skit showed members of the Fairbury Rotary Club the importance of shopping local this week.

Actors from Prairie Central High School helped Rick Wilson and Michael Blackwell from the Shop Local PC group relay the message at Tuesday’s meeting. The fictional boxing match included Huey the Hawk representing local businesses and another character wearing a box representing Amazon.

In the end, Huey the Hawk defeated current world champ Amazon.

The Shop Local group promotes H.O.M.E. which stands for youth support, opportunities for family and community, roads and park maintenance and emergency services. Look for information from the group during the upcoming Fairbury Christmas Parade on Dec. 7.
