The Livingston County Relay for Life celebration is set for Friday, Aug. 6 at the downtown Pontiac square from 5-9 p.m.
This is the 25th year for Relay for Life of Livingston County to celebrate survivors and honor loved ones with luminarias. Opening ceremonies are slated for 5 p.m. with entertainment and a silent auction along with the luminaria ceremony at 8:30 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and invite family members and friends to join the event.
Participants and volunteers from across the world have come together to honor and remember loved ones while taking action for lifesaving change. Funds raised help the American Cancer Society conduct breakthrough research, provide 24/7 support for cancer patients and access to lifesaving screenings.
Founded in 1985 by Dr. Gordy Klatt in Tacoma, Washington, Relay for Life continues to be a movement of like-minded survivors, caregivers, volunteers and participants who believe that the future can be free of cancer.
