Red Kettle drive starts Monday

The annual Fairbury Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive begins on Monday, November 23 at the entrance of Dave’s Supermarket and lasts through Christmas Eve.

Most of this money stays in our community to help local struggling families. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a few changes and there are safety protocols in place for the bellringers. The safety of volunteers and donors is paramount, so they will be re-evaluating throughout the season and following the guidelines of the Salvation Army.

In addition, some of the usual supporting organizations have been especially challenged by COVID-19, so the kettle will not be staffed as many hours as in previous years. This, combined with use of curbside pickup and fewer people using cash, could mean a drop in donations. Recognizing that this pandemic could mean that more families are needing help, we are still hoping to still match our collection of last year of just over $14,000.00.

To make giving easy, there is now an online donation option found at www.FairburyRedKettle.org, or on Facebook, FairburyRedKettle. If you are interested in ringing the bell for an hour-long shift, please visit the webpage or Facebook page (Like and follow!) as noted above.

At this time there are plenty of shifts available. Check back often as upcoming open shifts change frequently.

Every year it is such a blessing to see our community come together to support local families. Thank you to everyone who rings or donates. Your generosity of time and money is greatly appreciated.
