Pontiac beats PC to take 7th




(Saturday's action at PCHS in the Bank of Pontiac Turkey Tip-Off)

The first annual Bank of Pontiac Turkey Tip-Off is in the books.


In the seventh-place game Saturday morning carried live on Fairbury News, the Pontiac girls beat Prairie Central 46-22. Ottawa defeated St. Bede 46-32 for fifth place. Limestone won over Mahomet for third place, 52-45, while Peoria Notre Dame won the championship over East Peoria, 82-25.


The top three teams in the Prairie Central pool all finished 2-1 prior to Saturday’s championship round which meant they had to go with free throw percentages for the winner. Peoria Notre Dame went 3-0 in the Pontiac pool.


The 2023 Bank of Pontiac Turkey Tip-Off all-tournament team includes: Kylie Moeller, East Peoria; Kylie Waldinger, Mahomet-Seymour; Ellie Dallas, Mahomet-Seymour; Skyler Dorsey, Ottawa; Kendall Lowery, Ottawa; Mya Wardle, PND; Lexi Baer, PND; Julia Mingus, PND; Bailey Masching, Pontiac; Ali Bosnich, St. Bede.


The Prairie Central Lady Hawks went 0-4 in the tournament to open their season. PC is scheduled to play Tri-Point Monday at 7 p.m. followed by Olympia on Monday, Nov. 27.
