Obituary: Steidinger





David L. Steidinger, 82 of Fairbury, passed away at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.


His funeral service will be 10 am, Monday, August 5, 2024 at the Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow at South Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.  Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.


Visitation will be 2 to 8 pm, on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall, Fairbury and 9 to 9:45 am, prior to his service at the church on Monday.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.


Mr. Steidinger was born in Fairbury on August 21, 1941 a son to Urban and Ollie (Moser) Steidinger.   He married Deann Lovell on February 4, 1968 in Kempton.  His wife, Deann preceded him in death July 18, 2015.


Survivors include his children, Debbie (Steven) Vaughan of Fairbury; Dayton (Teresa) Steidinger of Sibley; Daniel (Valerie) Steidinger of Clifton; Darrel (Shannon) Steidinger of Colfax; Davida (Tony) Moreland of Colorado; Derrick (Joslyn) Steidinger of Fairbury; Dustin (Cynthia) Steidinger of Cropsey; 7 brothers and sisters; Marjorie Edelman, Sabetha, KS; Velda (Karl) Glueck, Tremont; Charles (Joann) Steidinger; Barbara (Ronald) Kaeb, Eldon (Darlene) Steidinger, Thomas (Dianne) Steidinger, all of Fairbury and Judy (Terry) Bachtold, Strawn; 31 adored grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.


His parents, three brothers, Maurice, Donald and Dennis Steidinger, two sisters, Elizabeth Steidinger and Mary Lou Kaeb and granddaughter, Laura Steidinger also preceded him in death.


David attended the Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury.   He served our country in the United States Army from 1964 – 1965.  Dave farmed, was an auctioneer and owned and operated David Steidinger Shelling Service for many years in the Fairbury-Cropsey area.  His incredible smile and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.


The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury for the care Dave received the past 3 years.
