Obituary: Ross




Mary Lynn Ross, 73, Fairbury, went to her heavenly home at 7:32 am Friday, July 14, 2023 at her residence, Fairbury.


Her funeral will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the First Baptist Church, Fairbury with Pastor Daryl Evans officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, July 17, 2023 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Tuesday at the church. The family suggests memorials be given to Hope Center of Livingston County, Pontiac.


Mary Lynn was born September 18, 1949 in Fairbury the daughter of Nelson “Jim” and Margaret Jeanene Rathbun Claudon. She married Sam Hoffman on September 9, 1967. She then married Wally Ross on June 30, 1999 in Lewiston, MN. He survives in Fairbury.


She was a devoted and loving mother to her two daughters, Jacqueline (David) Eisenmann, Savoy, Paula Hoffman, Fairbury. She had seven grandchildren who loved their “Grammy”, Sydney (Amit) Parkhe, Courtney Lanzona, Mackenzie (Curt Kupferschmid) Eisenmann, Brooke, Grant, Faith Bachtold and Jake (Belle) Bachtold; three great grandchildren, Zoya, Naavya and Soraya Parkhe; two sisters, Barbara (Leroy) Ward, Fairbury and Carol Bryant, Chatsworth.


She is preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Claudon.


Mary Lynn was a graduate of Illinois State University, Normal obtaining her Bachelor Degree in Social Work. She formerly worked as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor at Lighthouse, Bloomington and later IHR, Pontiac.


Mary Lynn loved the Lord and shared her Christian love and faith with her family and friends. She was a very special “Grammy” to all her grandchildren and was a big part of all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives. Mary Lynn enjoyed spending quality time with family and hosted many family gatherings and pool parties over the years. Mary Lynn was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fairbury and took great joy sharing her testimony and being baptized in recent years. She enjoyed the Women of Worth group of the church.
