Marjorie E. Mishler, 102, of Fairbury passed away at 11:53 pm Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury, IL.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, is in charge of arrangements.
A Celebration of Life and Funeral Service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be left in Marjorie’s name to: Fairview Haven Retirement Community; South Eastern Livingston County Ambulance Service (SELCAS); 1st United Methodist Church, Fairbury.
Marjorie was born on February 11, 1922 in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Franklin and Velma (Young) Lewis. She married Raymond Mishler on November 25, 1944 in Bloomington, IL. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2021.
She is survived by her children, Linda (John) Gathman of Longmont, CO; Roger (Nancy) Mishler of El Paso, IL; Robert Mishler of Champaign, IL; two grandchildren, Christopher Gathman of Greeley, CO and Renee Mishler of Bloomington. Marjorie is also survived by her siblings, Franklin Lewis, Jr., Bloomington, IL and Eleanor Robertson, Keizer, OR.
Marjorie is preceded in death by four sisters and one grandchild, Dannon Mishler.
In addition to being a partner with her husband in their farming operation, Marjorie worked as an interior decorator at Walton’s Department Store and in sales at Huber Clothing in Fairbury. She was an excellent seamstress and gained local fame for her delicious “Marge Bars”. She attended 1st United Methodist Church of Fairbury for over 70 years, taught Sunday School and was active in the United Methodist Women and the Chautauqua Society.
The family thanks everyone at Fairview Haven in Fairbury for the excellent care and friendship provided Marjorie during her 10 years at the facility. In the last few years, she often told friends that Fairview was her home.
