Ellen Magee, 95, Fairbury, died October 31, 2024 at Accolade Healthcare of Pontiac.
Her Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday, November 4, 2024 at St. Andrew Catholic Parish, Fairbury with Fr. Scott Archer officiating. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 9:00 to 9:45 am Monday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with a rosary to be recited at 9:15am. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Parish or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Ellen was born September 28, 1929 in Kankakee, IL the daughter of Jerome and Alice Reynolds Fruin. She married Dale “Squirt” Magee on October 9, 1948. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Vicki Magee, Chicago, Greg Magee, Chenoa, Marsha Harder, Pontiac, Julie (Roger) Meyer, Bloomington, and Jan (Kenny) Palmer, Wichita, KS, nine grandchildren, Shannon (Sarah) Sims, Steven (Kourtney) Magee, Jenny (Jay) Yap, Meghan Harder, Chuck R. (Holly) Harder, Molly Harder, Shelly (Matt) Freemole, Luke (Savanna) Meyer, Carly (Michael Wanamaker) Meyer and nineteen great grandchildren, Ethan and Paul Sims, Callie, Cora and Coby Yap, Novalee and Olivia Harder, Connor Auer, Marli Coulter, Chandler Harmon,Charlie Harder, Alice, Jane, and Violet Freemole, Breyden, Brynne, Blaine, Braylynne and Brock Meyer.
She is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Charles Harder and siblings, Bernice Puckett, Francis Fruin, Robert Fruin and Alice “Lou” Hamlin.
Ellen was a stay-at-home mom later working part time at Walton’s in the furniture department and the IRS in Bloomington. She was an avid bridge player, having played since 1966. Active member of St. John the Baptist Church (aka St. Andrew Catholic Parish, Fairbury) participating in Altar and Rosary Society, Catechism teacher, and miscellaneous committees. Best cook ever with potato salad being her signature dish. Ellen was affectionately known as GrandmaGee. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be deeply missed by all her family.
