Obituary: Friant





Larry M. Friant, 70 of Forrest, passed away at 3:25 pm, Wednesday, August 29, 2024 at his residence in Forrest.


His funeral service will be 11 am, Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Debbie Honegger officiating. Burial will follow in Avoca Township Cemetery, rural Fairbury.  


Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm, on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 also at the funeral home in Fairbury and 10 to 10:45 am, prior to his service at the funeral home on Wednesday.  Per Larry’s request; all who attend the services, casual attire is requested. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to Wounded Warrior Project.


Mr. Friant was born in Fairbury on May 16, 1954 a son to Myrel and Ellen “Marie” (Hurt) Friant.   His parents preceded him in death. He married Cristina “Cris” Hall on June 16, 1979 in Forrest.  His wife, Cris survives in Forrest. 


Other survivors include his children, Mark Friant of Edmonton, KY; Josh (Megan Thomas) Friant of Forrest and Stephanie Friant of Forrest; one sister, Dana (Lonnie) Caffee of Edmonton, KY; three brother in-laws, Mark (Norma) Hall of Roberts, IL; Donald (Barb) Hall of Forrest IL; and Jeff Hall of Elliott, IL; special daughter In-Law, Brandy Bennett of Fairbury; five adored grandchildren, Joshy, Dylan, O.J., Abby, Austin; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.


Larry attended the First United Methodist Churches of Fairbury and Forrest. Larry served our country in the United States Army. He was truly a man who could do it all or at least try.  He created a miniature locomotive train out of a riding lawn mower now that can be seen at the Wabash Festival in Forrest.  


Larry would do anything for a friend in need. He was his happiest when working alongside Matt, Tom and Tim Ifft and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
