His sister, Mary Ellen Burnside, survives in Kentland, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dorothy Kruger, and two granddaughters, Samantha and Samara Berry.
Jerry served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, where he worked as an airplane mechanic stationed in Hawaii and California. After his military service, he became the proud owner of a mechanic’s garage in Chatsworth. He then embarked on a long and successful career as an over-the-road truck driver for more than 30 years. In his later years, Jerry worked for Bahler Farms, where he found great fulfillment in farming before his retirement.
Throughout his life, Jerry was known for making friends wherever he went. His friendly and outgoing nature, paired with his strong work ethic, left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing his path.
Jerry’s family would like to offer a special message of love and remembrance: "Roll on 18-wheeler, roll on Roho! Love, Orphan Annie, Little Bear, and Pumpkin Head."
The family requests that any donations in Jerry’s memory be made to St. Jude, Autism Speaks or a charity of choice.
