The Prairie Central Hawk boys basketball team came close to a Regional championship at GCMS High School Friday evening as they were defeated by Monticello in overtime, 55-51.
Despite some foul trouble early, Dylan Bazzell led PC with 15 points. Tyler Curl contributed 11 while senior Andy Krenz ended his high school playing career with 9 and Drew Fehr had 6.
“Some calls didn’t go our way, but I’m proud of the effort my guys gave,” said Hawks head coach Darin Bazzell. “They continued to battle to the very end.”
There was an electrifying atmosphere inside the GCMS gym as the crowd filled in on both sides leading to standing room only by tipoff. Monticello and Prairie Central both had countless fans on hand to see the contest.
