Hawks, Indians matchup set

Wednesday's action at Herscher H.S. between PC and Bishop Mac.

Another win for Prairie Central Wednesday night means the Hawks advance yet again in the postseason and will meet Pontiac for the third time as the two county rivals will battle for the Herscher sectional title.

PC defeated Bishop Mac 74-66 in the sectional semifinal carried live on Fairbury News with Marc Strauss and Mike Norris calling the action. The Hawks had five players in double figures.

Tyler Curl had 20 points, Dylan Bazzell 15, Levi Goad 12, Drew Fehr and Drew Haberkorn with 10 and Gage Steidinger contributed 6.

“We really wanted to stop their transition,” Tyler Curl told Fairbury News after the game. “It’s hard to beat our offense, we can all score.”

Curl admits it will likely be a “crazy” game Friday night against Pontiac for the sectional title.

PC head coach Darin Bazzell notes his guys came into the game ready to compete and did just that throughout the contest.

“That was a tough grind-out game. They’re all gamers, they are ready to play,” Bazzell said.

The coach felt his team got some big rebounds when they needed them.

Herscher High School’s gym was packed Wednesday night and Friday’s championship is expected to be standing room only with both PC and Pontiac likely bringing large crowds to the game.
