Prairie Central cruised to a 68-33 regional semifinal win Wednesday night at Fairbury over Clifton Central.
In the game broadcast on Fairbury News with Marc Strauss and Jason Whitfill calling the action, PC had a slow start missing a few shots at first, but things turned around quickly as the Hawks took a 43-22 lead into halftime.
“I don’t think it was nervousness – it was more the excitement of the moment,” PC head coach Darin Bazzell said at the half.
In the end, Bazzell was very happy with his team’s effort especially on defense.
“We shut them down pretty good in the third quarter and stretched that lead out.”
PC advances to Friday night’s regional final at 7 p.m. against Monticello as the Sages beat Iroquois West 63-38. Coach Bazzell hopes his team comes out ready to play on Friday.
This was the 11th win in a row for the Hawks who are now 29-2 on the season. Dylan Bazzell had 19 points, Tyler Curl 12, Drew Fehr and Gage Steidinger with 8 each, Levi Goad 6, Camden Palmore 5, Drew Haberkorn 4, Hudson Ault 4 and Colton Stork with 2.
We will have Friday night’s regional final live on Fairbury News.
