Tuesday was a great day for Hawk fans as both the girls and boys basketball teams advanced in their holiday tournaments.
The Lady Hawks played two games in the Riverton tournament, winning both. They beat Springfield Lutheran in the morning 63-31. Mariya Sisco was leading scorer with 17 while Clare Strong and Katy Curl were the leading rebounders. The team defeated Riverton in the afternoon 38-29. Chloe Sisco led the scoring with 16 points and Gracie Edelman and Katy Curl led in rebounds. The girls play Porta Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Down the road in Williamsville, the PC boys basketball team survived a scare from Williamsville 52-50 as they advance to battle Tolono Unity at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Late baskets from Tyler Curl, a corner 3-pointer from Dylan Bazzell and clutch free throws from Levi Goad provided the cushion to pull away. Curl had 17 points, Bazzell contributed 15 and Goad had 12. The boys will now play Tolono Unity.
We plan to bring you live coverage Wednesday evening of the boys from Williamsville at 6 p.m. then will join the girls game already in progress afterward at Riverton. Derek Kessinger and Jeff Curl will have the play-by-play for Fairbury News.
