Girls fall to East Peoria, Ottawa

The Prairie Central girls basketball team dropped the first two games of the Bank of Pontiac Turkey Tip-Off Tournament this week.


On Monday, East Peoria defeated Prairie Central 51-42. Leading scorer for the Hawks was Abi Nimbler with 15 while Kori Buscher was leading rebounder with 7 and Tenley Kurtenbach led the steals with 2.


Tuesday’s action saw Ottawa beat Prairie Central 55-13. Jayla Hammond and Jerzee Martin were the PC leading scorers with 4 and Alaina Ricketts was leading rebounder with 5.


The Lady Hawks are back in action this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Prairie Central High School against Mahomet-Seymour. We will have the broadcast on Fairbury News with Mike Norris calling the action.


In other action from Pool A at Fairbury, Ottawa defeated Mahomet-Seymour this week 53-36 and Mahomet-Seymour won over East Peoria 55-48. Ottawa battles East Peoria Thursday at 5:30 p.m.


In Pool B play at Pontiac this week, PND defeated St. Bede 74-28. Limestone beat Pontiac 69-34. Limestone beat St. Bede 50-27 and PND defeated Pontiac 72-28. Limestone battles PND and St. Bede takes on Pontiac Thursday evening.
