Although we have been lucky so far, the area was struck with another wintry blast which started Wednesday afternoon and lasted through Thursday.
The snow began to fall mid-week then the winds picked up and temperatures plummeted Thursday which prompted many area schools, including the Prairie Central district, to cancel classes. It is a five-day weekend for P.C. students as a teacher institute is scheduled for Friday and President's Day is Monday.
Stores such as Dave's Supermarket were busy earlier this week as customers anticipated the winter storm.
There were reports of some accidents throughout the area as roads became icy and snow covered.
